CARDINIA Shire Council’s financial situation has been given the all clear from the State Government.
General manager of corporate services Garry McQuillan said council’s debt levels total borrowings are forecast to be $49 million by the end of the financial year – were assessed by the Department of Victorian Communities on a regular basis.
Council’s debt levels are a regular source of concern in the community.
Responding to a question from Cr Doug Hamilton at council’s meeting last week, Mr McQuillan said the shire’s current and longterm financial projections were considered acceptable by the state auditors.
“Council’s been given a clean bill of health,” he said.
