No work for Sarah after excavator theft

THE theft of a truck and excavator worth $100,000 from an Officer business has left the state’s only female excavator operator without work.
Sarah Hayes, 25, will no longer be able to work after a truck containing the excavator and rock breaker were stolen last week.
Police said thieves broke into Hayes Plant Hire in Rix Road some time between 6.30pm on 23 January and 6.30am on 24 January.
Ms Hayes operates Hayes Plant Hire and trained for six months to get her licensc to operate the excavator.
The stolen truck is a white 1988 Ford tray truck registered DQQ 003 with the words Hayes Excavator and Breaker Hire written on the side.
The excavator is white and the rock breaker is a yellow 2004 model.
Police said the tray truck with the excavator attached was last seen heading out through Bacchus Marsh that night.
Also on Rix Road, thieves forced entry to a container on a building site between 6pm on 21 January and 6.15am on 23 January.
A GMC generator and 12 Stihl chainsaws valued at a total of $15,000$20,000 were stolen from the premises.
Police are asking for anyone who may have seen the truck or saw any suspicious vehicles around the area to contact Detective Sergeant Phil Jury at Pakenham CIU on 5941 1033 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
