ON behalf of the Casey South Melbourne Cricket Club (CSMCC) I wish to thank City of Casey cricket devotees for their great support for our first Twenty20 game at the Arch Brown Reserve on Tuesday 13 December.
Berwick Cricket Club members deserve high praise for their support. Thank you president Justin Stanton, secretary Ray Purkiss, and ground manager Brian Wills.
There were also generous sponsors in Derrick Brown’s Gerard Collins Real Estate and Dave Shean’s Casey Sports. No lesser roles were played by Ros Britz of the City of Casey for designing and printing the colourful posters and Alex Michelli, who turned an industrial hazard into a first class venue.
It was pleasing to see SMCC president Graham Yallop, vice president Mick Taylor and committee member Damien Fleming enjoying the game, as was Warren Ayres… until the finish.
Premier cricket manager Peter Binns was seen looking for a chardonnay, whilst colourful, controversial, sportsman and exmayor Rob Wilson was seen without his coffee mug.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford also lent his support and met the players, together with some of the other male councillors.
Don Moyes,
CSMCC,
Berwick.
