CENTENARY celebrations continued recently at St Joseph’s, Iona.
Catholic Women’s League member, Mrs Val Feltham, her family and CWL friends entertained 80 guests at a heritage afternoon in the Iona church hall.
Mrs Margaret Deering played the piano and the singing of some old favourite tunes was led by Mrs Bernadine O’Connor and Mr Bernie Byrne.
Mr Colin Robinson and other members of the Victorian Reenactment Society presented a display of 18th and 19th century clothing to add to the day of nostalgia. Colin explained the intricacies of the undergarments worn, such as hooped petticoats, bustles and steel corsets. The beautiful colours and materials in the heritage clothing delighted all present.
Money raised from the day and other fundraising activities organised by Val will be used to pay for a new heater for the supper room.
