PAKENHAM will be a heaven on earth for bargain hunters on Friday (26 August).
Whether it’s a coffee, hairdo or wheel alignment, Pakenham Business Group (PBG) traders are slashing prices across the board.
With 46 businesses participating, every shopper will bag a bargain at the oneday super sale.
Event organiser Richard Fromhold from Sports Power in Main Street said everyone would find a great deal.
“There will be something for everyone, but you’ll have to be quick,” he said.
Richard said the formation of the PBG in May was in response to the growing number of shoppers bypassing the Pakenham business district.
“A lot of customers are getting on the highway and driving straight to Fountain Gate.
“We want to offer an incentive for customers to return to shop in the Pakenham region,” he said.
Richard said the PBG has plenty to offer fans of the bargainbin.
“Pakenham traders are very competitively priced, and always have something on special,” he said.
In 2001 and 2002, a similar supersale was organised, but only ran over three hours.
“It was a success, but the window of opportunity for shoppers was too small.
“On Friday, it is a nine to five sale, so people with school or work still have the chance to grab something,” Richard said.
Richard said traders had enough stock to last all day, but urged shoppers to get in early.
“You never know how quickly things will sell, so if you want the best bargains be quick,” he advised.
But if you can’t get to the shops on Friday, Richard said more bargains were already on the drawing board.
“When Christmas rolls around, there will another massive sale,” he said.
