LOCALS studying agriculture, horticulture or local government can apply for financial assistance.
Applications are open for the annual PB Ronald Memorial Trust Award, awarded to former or current Cardinia Residents studying these subjects.
Last year, Stephanie Pankhurst, Melissa Crutchfield, Aaron Cockram, Nick Newham, Daniel Noonan, Richard Kruithof, and Brendan Short received the 2008 bursaries at the trust’s annual dinner on 18 March 2008.
What they studied varied from agricultural science, dairy farming and arbour culturing.
The trust, now in its eighteenth year, perpetuates the memory of former Shire president Peter Ronald and assists young people studying agriculture, horticulture and local government.
The annual dinner is attended by representatives of the Pakenham Racing Club, the Rotary Club of Pakenham and the Pakenham and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society, which have provided support since the trust was formed in 1991.
The trust has now provided financial assistance for nearly 70 local people since it was established.
Applications for financial assistance must be sent with an accompanying letter outlining the studies and how the trust would assist those undertaking them.
Applicants will then be required to attend an interview. Deadline for applications is 21 February.
