HELEN Krygger had two reasons to smile when children headed back to the classroom this week.
The Pakenham resident waved goodbye to her granddaughter Greta Nooy and great granddaughter Ayla Brown who both started prep at St Patrick’s Primary School.
Ms Krygger made her way down to the school on Tuesday to ensure she didn’t miss the rare double feat.
She has 39 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, but said it would be the only time that second cousins in the family would start their primary schooling together.
“I said I have to go and get a photo – it will never happen again,” Ms Krygger said.
Greta has two sisters already attending St Patrick’s Primary School – Ali who is in Grade 6 and Grade 3 student Ruby.
Greta and Ayla were among the thousands of prep students to start at schools across Cardinia and Casey this week.
