Oh no, not the Kingswood!

By Melissa Grant
A GARFIELD couple are minus their prized Holden Kingswood after a heartless motorist ran up the back of it.
Sue and Ivan Garvey were dismayed to discover that the offender drove off instead of stopping to leave their details.
Mrs Garvey said she and her husband were watching television at their Garfield Road home on Wednesday, 17 June when they heard the smash.
“We were just sitting down. It was 6.30pm, we just had tea and were watching A Current Affair when we heard a bang,” she said.
“By the time we ran out the car was up over the hill.”
Mrs Garvey said the car had been deemed a write-off and a toolbox in its boot was smashed to pieces.
Police said a neighbour reported seeing a white twin cab in Garfield Road at the time of the incident.
Mrs Garvey said the car, which they had owned for 10 years, wasn’t insured and she and her husband couldn’t afford to replace it.
She said while they did have another car, Mr Garvey used the Kingswood to run errands around town.
Mrs Garvey said it was disheartening that the offender didn’t stop and was hopeful somebody might be able to help police with their inquiries.
She also hoped the person involved wasn’t injured, but had a guilty conscience.
“All they had to do was stop, we could have sorted something out,” she said.
“I hope someone knows this person and contacts the local police. I am trusting our community – as this is a small town, someone should know something.”
Anyone with information can phone Kooweerup Police on 5997 1404.
